Strengthening Our Commitment to Diagnostic Access and Global Health Equity
We are pleased to share that Xpedite Diagnostics has officially joined the Deutsches Netzwerk gegen vernachlässigte Tropenkrankheiten (DNTDs) — a national network focused on addressing neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through collaboration, innovation, and policy engagement.
This milestone reflects more than a collaboration — it underscores our dedication to closing the diagnostic gap in underserved regions and amplifying the global response to NTDs.
Understanding the Challenge: Why NTDs Matter
NTDs are a group of infectious diseases — including leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis, and lymphatic filariasis — that affect more than 1 billion people in over 140 countries. These diseases:
-
Thrive in tropical and subtropical climates
-
Disproportionately impact communities with poor access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare
-
Are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to a lack of testing infrastructure
While vaccines and treatments exist for many of these diseases, timely and accurate diagnosis remains one of the weakest links in the global response. Without it, outbreaks grow undetected, treatments are delayed, and lives are lost.
The Role of Molecular Diagnostics: Why Access is Critical
Effective diagnostics allow for:
-
Early detection and surveillance of disease
-
Targeted treatment and containment
-
Better use of resources in remote and decentralized systems
-
Trust between communities and health systems
Yet, traditional diagnostic approaches often depend on centralized labs, electricity, refrigerated storage, and trained personnel — resources that are simply not available in many NTD-endemic areas.
What Xpedite Diagnostics Brings to the Table
At Xpedite Diagnostics, we develop practical, real-world molecular diagnostic solutions that address these very limitations. Our tools are:
-
Designed for decentralized use — they work in the field, not just the lab
-
Simple to operate, with minimal equipment and training required
-
Fast and reliable, producing results within minutes
-
Portable and self-contained, removing the need for electricity or cold storage
-
Optimized for global settings, ensuring usability across various climates and infrastructures
By enabling on-site testing, our solutions help communities detect NTDs earlier, contain outbreaks faster, and reduce the logistical burden on already strained healthcare systems.
Why This Partnership Matters
Becoming a member of DNTDs allows us to:
-
Collaborate with key public health, academic, and nonprofit actors across Germany and globally
-
Share knowledge and build synergy around implementation in resource-limited settings
-
Help shape strategies that prioritize diagnostic access as a pillar of global health
-
Advocate for sustainable diagnostics integration in NTD programs and policies
Together with other DNTDs members, we are contributing to a growing movement: one that sees diagnostics not as an afterthought — but as a frontline tool for change.
For Our Partners, Customers, and Global Health Allies
This is more than an announcement — it’s a signal of alignment.
If you are an NGO, health ministry, research institute, or field team working on NTDs or other infectious diseases in low-resource areas, we would like to hear from you.
We’re committed to co-developing solutions that:
-
Fit real-world constraints
-
Amplify the work of local teams
-
Deliver real diagnostic power where it matters most
Join Us in This Mission
Our goal is to make equitable, high-impact diagnostics a reality — not just a concept.
Through this membership, we are better equipped to contribute to a healthier, more just world — one where no disease is neglected because the people affected by it are.
Let’s move diagnostics out of the lab and into the hands of those who need them most.

About DNTDs
The Deutsches Netzwerk gegen vernachlässigte Tropenkrankheiten (DNTDs) is a nonprofit network of academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, and private sector partners based in Germany. It advocates for increased attention, funding, and solutions for NTDs, aligned with the WHO roadmap and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
