April 2026 – Hallbergmoos, Germany – Xpedite Diagnostics GmbH, a pioneer in accessible molecular testing technologies, today announces the launch of ClassiX™ CleanUp (Research Use Only), a magnetic bead–based DNA purification reagent for post-PCR and NGS library clean-up. ClassiX™ CleanUp is the inaugural product of the new ClassiX™ product line, a growing portfolio of reliable, everyday molecular biology tools designed to complement Xpedite’s established SwiftX™ extraction platform.
DNA purification after PCR amplification or library preparation is a critical quality control point in molecular workflows. Inconsistent clean-up can compromise DNA recovery, impair removal of primers, adapters, and enzymes, and introduce variability between runs, operators, and laboratories. ClassiX™ CleanUp addresses this challenge with a standardized SPRI-based chemistry that delivers reproducible performance across routine and high-throughput applications.
Introducing ClassiX™: Everyday Tools for Molecular Biology
The ClassiX™ product line represents Xpedite Diagnostics’ expansion into core molecular biology consumables. While SwiftX™ products address the specialized challenge of nucleic acid extraction from complex sample types, ClassiX™ products are designed to support the routine steps that surround extraction: purification, size selection, and downstream sample preparation. Together, the two product lines form an integrated ecosystem for molecular workflows, from sample to analysis.
ClassiX™ CleanUp is the first product in this line, with additional tools planned to address common workflow needs in research and applied molecular biology settings.
Predictable Performance, Minimal Complexity
ClassiX™ CleanUp uses a simple bind–wash–elute workflow that delivers purified, size-selected double-stranded DNA in 15 minutes or less. The reagent is supplied as a ready-to-use magnetic bead suspension compatible with standard magnetic racks and common laboratory consumables.
Validated bead-to-sample ratios from 1.0× to 1.8× enable tunable fragment retention following canonical SPRI size-selection behavior. The system supports input volumes of 10–50 µL, elution volumes of 10–50 µL, and input DNA amounts from 5 ng to 200 ng, covering a broad range of PCR product and NGS library purification scenarios.
In internal evaluations, ClassiX™ CleanUp demonstrated consistent DNA recovery and fragment integrity comparable to established SPRI-based clean-up reagents across relevant bead-to-sample ratios and buffer conditions. Performance was equivalent with both 70% and 80% ethanol wash steps and across multiple elution buffers, including water, 10 mM Tris-Acetate (pH 8.0), and 10 mM Tris / 1 mM EDTA (pH 8.0).
Designed for Workflow Compatibility
ClassiX™ CleanUp integrates directly into existing SPRI-based protocols without requiring changes to established procedures. Laboratories using standard magnetic bead clean-up workflows can adopt ClassiX™ CleanUp as a direct replacement or complement to current reagents, maintaining validated protocols and SOPs.
The reagent is compatible with manual and semi-automated magnetic workflows and supports both low-throughput and high-throughput laboratory environments. As part of the Xpedite ecosystem, ClassiX™ CleanUp pairs naturally with SwiftX™ extraction kits, creating a streamlined path from nucleic acid extraction through to purified, analysis-ready DNA.
Cost-Effective Without Compromise
Magnetic bead–based DNA clean-up is one of the most frequently performed steps in molecular biology laboratories, yet reagent costs for established brands can represent a significant and recurring expense — particularly in high-throughput or multi-project environments. ClassiX™ CleanUp offers a cost-effective alternative without compromising on performance, reproducibility, or workflow compatibility.
Priced at 109 € for 10 mL, ClassiX™ CleanUp delivers substantial savings compared to widely used SPRI-based clean-up reagents, while maintaining equivalent recovery profiles and fragment integrity across validated bead ratios and buffer conditions. For laboratories seeking to reduce per-reaction costs without revalidating protocols or accepting trade-offs in quality, ClassiX™ CleanUp provides a direct, drop-in solution that fits existing workflows from day one.
“With ClassiX™, we’re building a portfolio of dependable molecular tools that laboratories can trust for their everyday workflows,” said Dr. Andy Wende, Founder and Managing Director of Xpedite Diagnostics GmbH. “ClassiX™ CleanUp delivers the same commitment to reproducibility and simplicity that defines our SwiftX™ platform — now applied to one of the most routine yet critical steps in molecular biology. Laboratories shouldn’t have to choose between performance and budget. With ClassiX™ CleanUp, they don’t have to.”
